Football Boot Camp $152.00

Coach Sean Remson and Cody Foss of The Fitness Loft have teamed up to create this complete camp for 5th to 8th grade football players. This six day camp incorporates speed, strength, skills and drills tailored for young football players. Your kids will actually enjoy getting in shape. Coaches will always be on hand to ensure safe and effective training. Whether this is your child’s first year in football or his/her fifth, he/she can benefit from this outstanding camp. Mon, Wed, Fri: Strength and agility at The Fitness Loft
5th and 6th grades @6-7pm
7th and 8th grades @7-8pm

Tue, Thur, Sat: Treadwell Park. 5th thru 8th grades

6:30- 8:00pm Skills and drills

Bring sneakers for The Fitness Loft and cleats for Treadwell Park. Bring plenty of water and your passion for football!

Offensive Football Clinics
If you are looking to start out, improve your game, or even try a new position, this clinic is for you. Football is a great sport and there is a lot to learn. Whether you want to run the ball with confidence or just learn to catch, here’s your chance to take the next step and find out what it takes to be one of the best. You will learn the basics to the finer points of your position. It will be fun and challenging. Clinics are run by Sean Remson, youth football coach for over eighteen years. Current grades 2nd – 8th. $45.00 for two, 2-hour sessions. Space is limited. No cleats or pads required. Quarterbacks are recommended to take both clinics

(1) The Running Offense: $45    Saturdays 06/07/2008 to 06/14/2008
Quarterback

Fullback
Wingback/Halfback/Slotback

Quarterback: Snaps, footwork, hand offs, fakes, running the offense, short passing and more.

All other backs: Strength drills, footwork, balance, reading and making blocks, ball handling, running the ball, hand offs, and more.

(2) The Passing Offense: $45   Saturdays  06/21/2008 to 06/28/2008
Quarterback

Quarterback: Snaps, footwork, 3&5 step drops, passing for accuracy, reading the defense and more.

  Football Coaches Meeting

To all Parents interested in coaching Newtown Youth Football:
 
There will be an initial Coaches meeting on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:30 pm in Room D-098 at Newtown High School for all returning coaches and for those of you that are interested in coaching for the first time.
 
To get to the classroom, you will enter the Boys Locker Room at the rear of the High School, proceed through the Locker Room and signs will direct you to the classroom.

  Joe Namath Camp

Dear Parents

Joe Namath Football Camp is taking place again this year at West Conn the week of July 6 - 11.  A number of Newtown Players attended last year and it appears that there has been interest expressed from a number of players this year. 
 
Dan Schneider, a Newtown resident who has worked with the Joe Namath Camp for the last 30 years, has contacted us to let us know that a discount may be arranged if we have a group of players attending. 
 
If your child will be attending, register your child directly with the Joe Namath camp (a non-refundable $50 deposit).  Please indicate "Newtown Youth Football" on your registration form.  Once you have registered, please forward your name to Maura Strokis at  by JUNE 6, 2008.  We will keep a list of confirmed attendees and work out the registration discount with the camp.   
 
We will let you know the final price after June 6th, based on the number of Newtown attendees.  Final payment is due to the camp by June 20th.
 
Please note:  All payments and paperwork should be sent directly to the Joe Namath Camp.

  Program / Media Guide 2008

Dear Parents:
 
We are getting a jump on setting up the Program/Media Guide for the 2008 season.  In the documents section of the website you will find the Progam 2008 Family Order Form. 
 
Please bring this form complleted and your desired digital photo on Registration Day, on Saturday, April 26th.  (Forms will be available at registration, as well) .
 
We will need all photos in a digital format! You can bring photos on a disc or email them to . Photos need to be in a JPG format.  (Most CVS Stores or other digital printing center will produce that format.)

  Registration Information Update

Second Graders  - Second Grade Players/Cheerleaders must turn 7 years old prior to July 31, 2008.

Medical Forms - Football Form 2; Cheer Form 6
 
Medical Forms need to be completed and returned prior to start of practice (August 4th).  You will take the form with you to have it completed by your physician.  If it is not returned prior to August 4, your player/cheerleader cannot begin practice. 
 
Completed Medical forms for Football can be mailed to:

Forms can also be turned in at equipment pick up which will occur in July.
